About this manual
This book is the software manual for Quest QXD amplifiers. It describes the web interface, the front-panel software, and the control API used by third-party systems.
It is written against firmware v1.0.0. Later firmware may add screens or change a range; if the unit in front of you looks different, check Settings → Device → System Status for the package version.
Who it is for
- Installers commissioning a system
- Venue or facilities staff who adjust levels and presets
- Integrators connecting Q-SYS, Crestron, or a custom controller
Hardware installation, loudspeaker selection, and electrical safety are not covered here.
What the software does
QXD-Core is the operating software inside the amplifier. It provides:
- Live control of inputs, mix buses, zones, and speaker outputs
- Parametric EQ in the browser, with the same settings stored on the device
- Speaker-library presets (crossover, FIR, limiter, and speaker EQ)
- Real-time level meters
- Network setup (Ethernet and Wi-Fi), power modes, and GPIO
- A PIN lock on the front panel
- Backup and restore of the complete configuration
- An HTTP and WebSocket API for external control
Changes made on the web interface appear on the front panel, and the reverse. There is no separate “save” for audio — edits are applied immediately and stored on the device.
Models
The same software runs across the QXD range. Two software differences depend on the factory model:
- Bridge mode is offered only on QXD5K and QXD1K, and only on output pairs 1+2 and 3+4.
- The advertised model name on the network is one of QXD-10K, QXD-5K, QXD-2K, or QXD-1K.
