Connecting for the first time

A new (or factory-reset) amplifier starts its own Wi-Fi access point so you can reach the web interface without a LAN.

What the unit broadcasts

XXXX is the last four hexadecimal digits of the amplifier’s Wi-Fi MAC address. You can read the SSID on the front panel under Status → WIFI AP. The panel does not show the password.

As example, if the SSID is QXD-AP-0000 the password is password0000.

The access point uses WPA2-PSK and allows up to four clients.

Connect over Wi-Fi

  1. Power the amplifier and wait until the front panel is ready.
  2. On a laptop or phone, join the QXD-AP-XXXX network and enter passwordXXXX.
  3. Open a browser to http://192.168.4.1.

Connect over Ethernet

  1. Connect the amplifier to your network. By default it requests an address with DHCP.
  2. Find the address on the front panel under Status → Ethernet, or browse to the mDNS name (http://qxd.local or http://<device-name>.local).
  3. Open that address in a browser.

Ethernet and Wi-Fi can be used together. If you turn the access point off and have not configured a Wi-Fi client network, Wi-Fi is fully disabled and Ethernet is the only path.

After commissioning

Typical install sequence:

  1. Open the web interface and create the first user account.
  2. Set a device name under Settings → Device → Setup (admin). The name appears in the browser tab and on the network.
  3. Configure Ethernet (and optionally a Wi-Fi client) under Settings.
  4. If the unit will live on a wired LAN, disable the access point so it is not left open in the venue.
  5. Load a speaker library, set routing and EQ, then take a configuration backup.
